Glamming it up with Alisha and Josinda

Some of you may remember a few months ago when I posted Alisha's family portrait session at the beach. I loved working with Alisha. When I decided to do a glamour session in Fernandina Beach, I thought of her and asked if she wanted to be a part of it. On a Sunday, she brought her best friend Josinda and I brought along two fellow photographers and friends, Erica and Jenny. We had a great time wandering the streets of this great little seaside town. Here are a few of my favorites from the day. I hope you enjoy them too!

This is my favorite of the shots of Alisha. I just love how the angle focuses on her eyes.

I am so loving sun washed and sun flare shots right now.

This is my favorite of the shots of Josinda. I love the sun glow on her face.

I love this candid shot. They were laughing and just having a great time together.

My turn!

My turn!

I have always wanted to be a photographer. A few months ago, my husband Jon encouraged me to follow my dreams. When the box arrived with the Canon 30d in it, I was so excited! Then the nerves set in. Would I be good enough to make it in the industry? I had also always loved everything about weddings and actually spent many years dreaming of being a wedding planner. So it was a no brainer for me that I would focus on weddings. When we were planning on opening a photography business, I did some market research and came upon Captivating Studios. I didn't realize it at the time but it would soon become Scarlett Lillian Photography. Looking back at my notes, I labeled Scarletts work A++! I began following her blog and her work. I will admit that at first her work was a bit more "edgy" than I was used to. It didn't take me long to realize that is exactly what I love about her work.

A few months later, I went to Scarletts blog to find she was going to be making a big announcement and in anticipation, she was going to hold a contest. I knew right away that I wanted to participate. Jon and I came up with a theme and we entered. Although we didn't win the grand prize, we did win a great prize to use at Simply Canvas. A few days after the contest, Scarlett made the big announcement. She was opening up spots for photographers to "Spend the day with Scarlett". I can't explain how excited I was! I chose October 21st as the day I would spend with Scarlett.
On the drive to meet Scarlett, I was full of questions and anticipation. I had no idea what to expect. Scarlett greeted me at her door with a smile, a hug and Rhett (her adorable Poodle)! We quickly started talking about anything and everything. I really felt like she was an old friend I hadn't seen in awhile. After a little chat fest, we went outside to take some pictures of me. I have always considered myself to "not photograph well". I must admit that it was strange being in front of the camera. I can completely relate to my clients now! Scarlett made me feel comfortable and she took some great pictures of me that I love and can't wait to frame!

After we talked about editing and business, we went to lunch at this great little Thai place called the Blue Bamboo. They had the best Thai iced tea I have ever had. I seriously can't wait to go there again next week! After lunch, I got to meet another photographer, Krista. Krista also spent a day with Scarlett just before I did and she has her own photography business, Aspired Kreations. Krista was so sweet and she did an amazing job in front of the camera. I had the best time chatting with her and Scarlett. We headed off to shoot near the Town Center in Jacksonville and ended up downtown to finish up the day. I really can't say enough good about Krista and Scarlett. They are both strong, beautiful and caring women and I wish them both more happiness and success than they can handle! Here are a few shots I got from our time together. Thank you both so much!

Beach Session with Shane, Ranae and Taylor

Beach Session with Shane, Ranae and Taylor

I met Shane, Ranae and Taylor a few months ago and I just love working with them. I have been so blessed to be able to work with such great families! Taylor remembered me right away and we had fun snapping a few shots together during their session. She is such an adorable little girl and like me, she LOVES candy!

It was a near perfect day down at Atlantic Beach and I just loved how the sun peeked out from the behind the clouds to shine down on their session. They are such a fun family and I hope to work with them again soon! Here are a few of my favorites from the day. Enjoy!

I love the little birds in this shot
Taylor was having so much fun!

They are such a happy couple!
I love the way the wave is crashing behind them

This is my favorite shot of the day of Taylor. I love candy as much as she does!
The sun burst in this shot is beautiful

A Beautiful Sunday with the Fosters

A Beautiful Sunday with the Fosters
About a month ago, I received an email from Alisha. She explained that she had heard about my work through a friend and wanted some information on my family packages. We decided to meet on a Sunday at Hanna Park. When Alisha, Broc and Liliana arrived it was muggy and overcast and I was really hoping for a bright and sunny day. In the end, the sun came out and the day ended perfectly. Liliana who is an absolute doll, was dressed in the most adorable sailor dress. She had so much fun playing in the sand. Her smile melts my heart! Broc and Alisha are a great couple and I really loved working with them. I hope we can do it again sometime! Alisha is truly such a sweet person. She left the cutest and most complimentary comments on the images from the day on her Myspace photo album. In December, I received a pleasant surprise in my mailbox that read:
Ginger,
Thank you so much for doing such beautiful work!! We really enjoyed working with you!! Can't wait to do it again...
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!
Love,
The Fosters
Thank you so much for your kind words! I really enjoyed working with you all too and I definitely can't wait to work with you again!

I love the smile on Liliana's face!

How adorable is this shot?

I love their smiles and their "almost" kiss.

I love playing with sunflare in shots. So yummy!

I don't even think they knew I got this shot.

I love shots of hands and feet. They are so expressive and full of detail.

I love how Liliana is interested in what Alisha is showing her.
