My turn!
I have always wanted to be a photographer. A few months ago, my husband Jon encouraged me to follow my dreams. When the box arrived with the Canon 30d in it, I was so excited! Then the nerves set in. Would I be good enough to make it in the industry? I had also always loved everything about weddings and actually spent many years dreaming of being a wedding planner. So it was a no brainer for me that I would focus on weddings. When we were planning on opening a photography business, I did some market research and came upon Captivating Studios. I didn't realize it at the time but it would soon become Scarlett Lillian Photography. Looking back at my notes, I labeled Scarletts work A++! I began following her blog and her work. I will admit that at first her work was a bit more "edgy" than I was used to. It didn't take me long to realize that is exactly what I love about her work.
A few months later, I went to Scarletts blog to find she was going to be making a big announcement and in anticipation, she was going to hold a contest. I knew right away that I wanted to participate. Jon and I came up with a theme and we entered. Although we didn't win the grand prize, we did win a great prize to use at Simply Canvas. A few days after the contest, Scarlett made the big announcement. She was opening up spots for photographers to "Spend the day with Scarlett". I can't explain how excited I was! I chose October 21st as the day I would spend with Scarlett.
On the drive to meet Scarlett, I was full of questions and anticipation. I had no idea what to expect. Scarlett greeted me at her door with a smile, a hug and Rhett (her adorable Poodle)! We quickly started talking about anything and everything. I really felt like she was an old friend I hadn't seen in awhile. After a little chat fest, we went outside to take some pictures of me. I have always considered myself to "not photograph well". I must admit that it was strange being in front of the camera. I can completely relate to my clients now! Scarlett made me feel comfortable and she took some great pictures of me that I love and can't wait to frame!
After we talked about editing and business, we went to lunch at this great little Thai place called the Blue Bamboo. They had the best Thai iced tea I have ever had. I seriously can't wait to go there again next week! After lunch, I got to meet another photographer, Krista. Krista also spent a day with Scarlett just before I did and she has her own photography business, Aspired Kreations. Krista was so sweet and she did an amazing job in front of the camera. I had the best time chatting with her and Scarlett. We headed off to shoot near the Town Center in Jacksonville and ended up downtown to finish up the day. I really can't say enough good about Krista and Scarlett. They are both strong, beautiful and caring women and I wish them both more happiness and success than they can handle! Here are a few shots I got from our time together. Thank you both so much!

Beautiful!
Interesting to see some full sun shots. I'm trying to teach myself how to handle that. Great job. If you have any tips for me on it, that'd be awesome!
Awwww... I'm teary eyed. Thanks for all the sweet words! Your pictures look great. I think my fave is the one in sepia of her against the wall. Great perspective there. I truly enjoyed getting to know you Ginger! I know God has amazing things in store for your career. I can't wait to see you again next week at the PUG meeting!

WOW! I'm so impressed! These are awesome. How can I get some of these from you? Love all of them! You have a great eye and talent, keep it up! You made me feel so comfortable throughout the shoot, it's so different being on the other side of the camera. I had a wonderful time with you & Scarlett. Take care...
Krista
