I can't even begin to tell you how excited I was to be taking a road trip to Atlanta to attend the launch party of the fabulous Southern Weddings magazine. Even better? I would be making the drive with one of my fave photogs, the ultra fab diva herself, Scarlett Lillian. We left Sunday morning and had great weather despite reports of rain (do they ever get it right?!). We chatted and laughed and had a fun drive all the way to our hotel, The Westin. Scarlett was able to get us in a suite on the 67th floor and I was thrilled. That is until I got in the room and remembered something quite quickly....I am terrified of heights! I tried to get near the window but I was honestly shaking with fear. To make matters worse, Scarlett googled the hotel and found it had been hit and damaged by a tornado the year before! When it got dark, we decided to take pictures of our amazing view of the beautiful city. Scarlett was so sweet trying to help me get over my fear and she did what any good friend would do....She ran and launched herself into the 67th floor hotel room window to show me that if she didn't fall, neither would I! I haven't decided yet if that helped my fear or not. I have been too busy looking for the eyes that popped out of my head in shock! Here are a few pictures from our room during the day and at night.
The premier issue of SW magazine, the fab swag bags we received and a shot of Lara & the super cute Kate & Matt of Altmix Photography. Images from the Southern Weddings site.
The very chic Terrica and Scarlett. Loved the hat Terrica wore! A shot of Scarlett, Lara, Terrica and me. The only shot of me at the restaurant and my eyes are closed! Images from the Fabuluxe Events blog.
Katie, the adorable and super sweet intern at SW mag rocking the pink! Eliana was tres chic in hot damask and pink, Scarlett looking fab in the green Betsey and me in my fave black Ann Taylor. The super talented foursome: Latrice, Eliana, Terrica and Melanie. The super talented threesome: Michelle, Melanie and Ashley. Loved meeting all of these amazing ladies! Images from the blog of By Your Side Events.
A super hot group of shots from the blog of Scarlett Lillian!
The next day we met Terrica, Katasha, Melanie and Zoe (Zoe is the adorable daughter of Melanie that I wanted to take home with me!) at the local Mellow Mushroom. After chatting for a bit, Scarlett and I were ready to head back to Jacksonville.
On the drive home, we saw a sign for the Smok'n Pig near Valdosta. Scarlett remembered a fab fellow photog Shain worked there. So we decided to make what Scarlett cutely dubbed a "pig-stop"! It was fun to try and surprise Shain with the visit and I think we succeeded! We ate some delicious BBQ, took a few pictures and then we were back on the road again. It was great to see you Shain and I hope to see you at the upcoming night shoot next week!
After many hours of driving back....funny how it always takes longer to get back home on a trip....we were crossing the Fuller Warren and talking about how we both had always wanted to shoot it so Scarlett pulled the car over. I am surprised I was able to get a half way decent shot because I was shooting across the seat & in between Scarletts arm and the car door frame! I definitely want to head back over to the bridge next week and get some planned shots of it to post and see what I can get from my camera!
While I had an amazing time, I was happy to get home to see my wonderful husband and a few very excited puppies. I met some amazing people that I hope to see again soon!

OMG! What an exciting trip. Sounds like you had a blast. Looks like you were pretty high up in that hotel. I dont ever think I have been that high expect maybe in an airplane! Your city shots are beautiful. I wish I could do that! The pictures are gorgeous. I know you said you wanted to re-do the Jax bridge pic but I like this one too. I cant wait to see your next take on it.

Hey Ginger! It was nice to finally meet you at the PUG meeting. I had to come check out your blog since you said you had a similar color scheme to what I have. That is too funny! I swear I am not copying. I've had mine for quite a while! LOL! I don't think I ever noticed your blog layout because I read your blog entries through a blog roll with Blogger. LOL!
Anyway, you have great taste and I look forward to seeing you at the next PUG! : )
